New UK Statue Of Ex-Coach Hall Summons Memories Of Admiral Stockdale

First, this is no knock on former Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall.  Second, it’s no knock on the artist who created the new statue of the ex-coach that now sits outside the UK’s palatial Wildcat Coal Lodge.  After all, I’m seeing just one angle of the statue.

But when I see this photo…



























I’m reminded of Phil Hartman’s brilliant impression of 1992 vice-presidential candidate Admiral James Stockdale.  “Who am I, why am I here,” he barked, confused.  And from the angle of this photo, it appears that Hall — in the statue — is sitting on the sideline wondering the same thing.
