SEC Headlines – 2/8/12 Part One

1.  After a flurry of technical fouls, Alabama knocked out Auburn.

2.  Anthony Grant probably won’t be happy with some of his players for calling out Auburn fans and players on Twitter after the win. 

3.  Tony Barbee says his Tiger team got “out-toughed.”

4.  Undefeated at home, Arkansas heads to Georgia looking for its first win away from Bud Walton Arena in 348 days.

5.  LSU goes on the road to Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gym tonight.

6.  MSU fans have chosen their program’s Team of the Century (from State’s first 100 years of basketball… it’d still be a bit soon to for the team of the 2000s.)

7.  Ole Miss needs to keep hitting the boards when the Rebels travel to Starkville on Thursday.

8.  Terrance Henry says he’s got the back of UM’s Nick Williams, the Reb’s top trash-talker.”

SEC Headlines 1/29/2012 Part One

1. Alabama 72 – Arkansas 66.  Tides goes 20-of-25 from free-throw line as Alabama snaps four-game losing streak. Trever Releford scores 18 points as Razorbacks remain winless away from Bud Walton Arena.  Mike Anderson: “That’s life on the road.”

2. PA announcer: “Arkansas coach Mike Davis.”

3. Florida 69 – Mississippi State 57.  Gators make 11 3-point shots. Bulldogs commit 15 turnovers as Florida pulls away late.

4. The under-appreciated Billy Donovan. “There were empty seats scattered throughout the upper levels of the O’Connell Center on Saturday.”

5. Kentucky 74- LSU 50.  Season-high 27 points for Terrance Jones.

6. “If LSU had tackled in BCS game like they have in this one,” tweeted someone named @crtree, “they would have won.”

7. Scott Rabalais: “Things seem to eventually find their own level in the Southeastern Conference when it comes to its two most historically dominant football and basketball powers.”

8. C.M. Newton: ”We’re creating the passive spectator. I don’t know when enough is enough when you’re televising every game, which our coaches want.”

9. Vanderbilt 84 – Middle Tennessee State 77.  Game-high 26 points for John Jenkins.First round NCAA Tournament feel to the game.

10. Ole Miss 66 – South Carolina 62.  14 points and 11 rebounds for Murphy Holloway against his former teammates. Terrance Henry seals the win with 3-point bucket.

11. Tennessee 64 – Auburn 49. Vols have more rebounds than Tigers have points. Tennesee misses 38 shots- Auburn 39. “Stay ugly.”

SEC Headlines – 2/17/11 Part Two

1.  The attack on Toomer’s Corner couldn’t inspire Auburn’s basketball team which was blasted 90-59 at Ole Miss last night.

2.  Former Auburn defensive line coach Tracy Rocker didn’t know the Tennessee Titans were watching him.

3.  Gene Chizik is now in search of a new assistant.

4.  Anthony Grant says Alabama’s rematch with LSU tonight won’t be as easy as the Tide’s 70-46 win last month.

5.  The University of Alabama has added no extra security to landmarks on the Tuscaloosa campus following the attack on Auburn’s famous oak trees.

6.  Arkansas recorded a much-needed easy win against Florida A&M last night…

7.  The Hogs’ stretch run is set as they battle for a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament.

8.  Some Razorback players say John Pelphrey has cranked up his energy a little bit more in recent weeks.

9.  LSU’s Matt Derenbecker says “the goal is to ruin someone else’s season.”  The Tigers host Bama tonight.

10.  LSU needs to “rebound better and not turn the ball over” to snap an eight-game losing streak.

11.  Mississippi’s 31-point win over Auburn was a “feel-good game” for the Rebels.

12.  Terrance Henry and Reggie Buckner came up big down low.

13.  This writer says he was wrong to suggest Renardo Sidney takes himself out of games whenever he likes… but he still thinks Sidney has avoided accountability for much of his life.
