Vols Lose Assistant/Alum Graham To Florida State

mrsec-breaking-newsNew head football coach Butch Jones has suffered his first big loss at Tennessee.  Volquest.com — the Rivals site covering Tennessee — reports today that Vol running backs coach Jay Graham has verbally accepted an offer from Jimbo Fisher to join his Florida State staff in the same capacity.  Regarded as a strong recruiter, Graham left South Carolina to return to his alma mater under Derek Dooley in late-2011.

The site reports that Graham will receive “more money with more responsibility” in Tallahassee.

Jones and his first batch of Volunteers open spring practice in a little less than two weeks.  They’ll need to find a running backs coach between now and then.  According to the coach’s Twitter feed his search is already underway:

Arkansas Puts Up A Football Billboard In Arizona

The newest trick in the playbook of many a college football coach is to put up an advertising billboard in another state where recruits grow up fast and strong.  Various SEC billboards have popped up in Georgia, Florida and Mississippi in recent years.

But Arkansas is taking things a step further… actually quite a few steps further to the West.  ArkansasSports360.com is reporting that UA has put up a billboard on Interstate 8 in Yuma, Arizona.  What’s in Yuma — aside from cactii?  Arizona Western College, the juco home of a number of top recruits each year.

The billboard reads simply “Arkansas Football… Visit THISISARKANSASFOOTBALL.COM” and sports a pair of Razorback eyes.  And while the Hogs didn’t land former Arizona Western offensive lineman Aaron Douglas — the former Tennessee Vol inked with Alabama’s Crimson Tide — Arkansas did sign four players from the state of Arizona in this year’s class.

In case you’re wondering, the billboard cost $1,704.
