With Derek Dooley facing his father’s long-time school this weekend, the “emotions” storyline was sure to get some play. But as Dooley told Chip Towers of The AJC, that angle has been overplayed:
“When you talk about this Georgia game, it’s a lot harder on my family that it is on me. Because my family, they’ve been Georgia fans their whole life. My dad bleeds red and black, so it’s hard on him. But that’s not me. I didn’t even go to college at Georgia. I bled red and black when I was 12. You know what I mean? So I think people make this a bigger deal than what it is.”
Technically, Dooley did graduate from UGA’s law school, but he makes his feelings pretty clear just the same. And those are? He doesn’t have many extra feelings going into the Tennessee-Georgia game every year.
