Quarterback Gunner Kiel wasn’t on LSU’s campus today for an early enrollee meeting on Monday.
That report came from Shea Dixon of TigerSportsDigest.com. That led to multiple reports that Kiel was having second thoughts about attending LSU and might choose Notre Dame instead. Here’s Dixon’s latest report on twitter:
“Adding up everything on Gunner Kiel I have gathered today, I can’t say it looks great for #LSU. If true, just a tough 8 days for Tiger fans.”
Losing Kiel, who’s considered the nation’s No. 1 pro-style quarterback by Rivals.com, would be a blow to LSU’s class of 2012. He’s the only quarterback committed to the Tigers this year.
Kiel has also started to receive plenty of criticism for his constant waffling during the recruiting process. He originally committed to Indiana before decommitting in October.
Kiel appeared solid to LSU when he committed to the Tigers on Dec. 27.
“I can’t wait to play in the SEC,” Kiel said at the time. “A lot of people call it the NFL of college football and it will be an exciting time. It would mean a lot to be a starting quarterback in such a great conference at a great school. I really love the players and the coaching staff (at LSU). They were all great to me on my visit and seemed very welcoming.”
