New AU Assistant Bisaccia Already Leaving?

rich-bisacciaThe Dallas Morning News reported last evening that new Auburn assistant Rich Bisaccia is already on the verge of heading back to the NFL.  According to the paper, the special teams/running backs coach is working out the final details of a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.  The longtime NFL assistant joined Gus Malzahn’s staff on January 3rd.

The Morning News reported that Bisaccia could be named the Cowboys’ new special teams coordinator today… “if a buyout with Auburn is finalized.”  Bisaccia worked with recently hired Dallas defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin for seven seasons on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ staff.

As for working out a buyout with Auburn, well, that was apparently news to Tiger AD Jay Jacobs.  About four hours after The Morning News posted its story, Jacobs told The Opelika-Auburn News that he was unaware of the Bisaccia-to-Dallas report and that he didn’t know if the assistant had actually signed his Auburn contract yet.

If Bisaccia does leave the Plains for the Lone Star State, he won’t be the only assistant coach to make a short layover in the SEC before jetting elsewhere.  December-hired Arkansas receivers coach George McDonald departed Fayetteville to become the new offensive coordinator at Syracuse earlier this month.

Didn’t anyone tell these guys how things are done in the South?  Didn’t Bisaccia and McDonald know to set a spell?  Take their shoes off?
