Thought Of The Day – 5/6/13

This would have been more appropriate yesterday — on Cinco de Mayo — but since we don’t do thoughts/lyrics o’ the day on the weekend, here ya go…

“Yeah if you want that kind of money, man, you gotta stay brave.  Federales are pullin’ bodies out of shallow graves.”

Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers – Switchblade lyrics video

Regular readers of this site have a good idea of just much space on the MrSEC iPod is devoted to the music of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers.  Highly recommended.  As is the band’s website.  And Roger’s tequila, for that matter.  (On the up and up — someone from their party sent us a nice a note the last time we featured these guys, so when RCPM pops up on our iPod, they’re also gonna pop up on the site.  Now book some dates in the Southeast, guys.)

Thought Of The Day – 3/11/13

Good Monday.

Plenty of SEC news and bracket projection stuff on the way today.

(Sidenote — We’re barely into the week and I’m already cursing the crash-inducing mixture of Google Chrome/Shockwave.  That doesn’t bode well for this week or for my mood.)

Back to business… the MrSEC.com iPod is filled with the work of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers and I’m pretty sure this is their third appearance in our thought/lyric of the day slot.  That’s more than any other artist so far (for those of you keeping score at home).  Technically speaking, this lyric comes from a song called “Nada” which was from Roger Clyne’s first group, The Refreshments.  But if you’re lucky you can still catch RCPM performing this one live in concert somewhere out there today.  Great, great band.

“I been away from the living, I don’t need to be forgiven.  I’m just waiting for that cold, black, sun-cracked, numb-inside soul of mine… to come alive.”
