Auburn Loses Two More Players From Championship Team

Would the last man to leave please remember to turn out the lights?

If you thought Auburn had endured all the attrition it could possibly face this offseason, think again.  When the Tigers kick off spring practice, receiver Philip Pierre-Louis and O-lineman Andre Harris won’t be on the spring roster.

Prepare to be staggered.  Those two departures now bring the total number of scholarship players gone from last year’s roster to at least 38.

Out of 85 total scholarship players last year, Auburn has lost 38.

Now granted, Harris and Pierre-Louis aren’t exactly household names, but at this point, AU simply needs bodies.

Gene Chizik inherited a mediocre team when he arrived on The Plains.  In two years he took the Tigers from mediocrity to the mountain top.  But now, in many ways, he’s looking at a bigger rebuilding job than the one he faced in 2009.

38?  Wow.
