Who’ll Try To Keep Up With These Joneses?

Florida has the cash.  What about Alabama?  Maybe LSU?

Eventually some SEC school will try to keep up with the Joneses — or Knights in this case — when it comes to Oregon’s plans for a new, six-level, 130,000-square foot football operations center.

Yeah.  Six floors, 130,000-square feet.

The Ducks’ proposed facility will no doubt be funded in large part by OU booster and Nike founder Phil Knight.  It is expected to include “offices, team video theaters, offensive and defensive strategy rooms, a coaching conference suite, a video editing center, a dining hall and a weight room,” according to The Oregonian.

So again we ask, which SEC program has the money and desire to build a facility that rivals Oregon’s planned football center?

Auburn Will Be Facing A “Blur” In The BCS Title Game

It pays to have the founder of Nike as your school’s biggest booster, I suppose.  Thanks to the Phil Knight connection, Oregon will actually sport brand new uniforms for the BCS Championship Game.

Then again, considering Oregon’s “normal” uniforms, maybe that’s not such a good thing.

The new uni will feature highlighter-yellow socks and shoes matched with white jerseys and pants.  The helmet will be silver, er black, er… I don’t know what color that thing is.

A Nike executive said Oregon “will look like a blur on the field.”

Indeed.
