Collins Finally Signs With Bama

It took a while but Alabama finally has the signed scholarship papers of Louisiana safety Landon Collins in house.  Collins’ recruitment — thanks to his mother’s comments — has drawn national attention.  Collins’ mother wanted her son to stay the Pelican State and play for LSU.

This afternoon, the son officially overruled the mom and inked with the Crimson Tide.

Signing Day 2011: The Battle For Louisiana

Looking only at 2011 signees/enrollees — and not players who signed in 2010 but are enrolling now — the state of Louisiana produced:

3… 5-stars
11… 4-stars
45… 3-stars

Here’s who mined the state’s Top 25 players for signatures:

14… LSU
1… Alabama
1… Arkansas
1… Auburn
1… Kansas State
1… Memphis
1… Ole Miss
1… TCU
1… Texas A&M
1… Junior College (with intentions to go to Mississippi State)
1… Junior College
1… Still Unsigned

State Champion: LSU

LSU’s dominance in its home state is impressive.  No other program got a foothold in the Pelican State this year as Les Miles closed down the state’s borders.
