Peterson, Nevis Named Bednarik Semifinalists

BATON ROUGE – LSU defenders Drake Nevis and Patrick Peterson have been named two of the 16 semifinalists for the 2010 Bednarik Award, the Maxwell Football Club Advisory Committee announced on Monday.

SEC Headlines – 11/3/10 Part Two

1.  Once again, LSU-Alabama has championship implications.

2.  Julio Jones is looking forward to another matchup with Patrick Peterson.

3.  Point guard Trevor Releford came up big in Alabama’s basketball opener last night.

4.  Gene Chizik inherited most of Auburn’s best players from Tommy Tuberville.  (But not Cameron Newton and he’s been the difference-maker.)

5.  The Tigers are trying to stay loose in the midst of a 9-0 season.

6.  As Auburn prepares to open its basketball season, Tony Barbee’s honeymoon has been rocky behind the scenes.

7.  Without Greg Childs out for the season, Arkansas will need to call upon receiver depth at South Carolina on Saturday.

8.  At least receiver Joe Adams was back at practice yesterday… at “about 80%.”

9.  The Hogs aren’t taking Carolina’s pass defense lightly.

10.  LSU’s players worked on the basics of tackling during their open date.

11.  Les Miles says both of his quarterbacks will play against Alabama.

12.  Basketball coach Trent Johnson is frustrated by the Tigers injury woes.
