Arkansas Lands Memphis Lineman

Arkansas has received a commitment from offensive lineman Cordale Boyd from Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway High School.

“I was up there about a month ago and just loved it,” Boyd told ESPN.com. “I loved the academics. They showed so much interest in academics. Some colleges don’t even bother talking to you about them. I loved the weight room because I love lifting weights. It will motivate me to do well there.”

Boyd is the fifth prospect to commit to Arkansas for the class of 2012 and the second offensive lineman to do so.

Boyd’s commitment is another example of Arkansas’ approach to recruit Memphis, as outlined by Otis Kirk on HawgSports.com last week.

Hogs Chasing RBs For 2012

Arkansas has inked just one tailback in its last two signing classes.  That shouldn’t matter this fall when Knile Davis — the SEC’s leading returning rusher — is toting the ball for Bobby Petrino.  But moving forward, the Razorbacks need to ink some ballcarriers.

According to Otis Kirk of HawgSports.com that’s just what Petrino is trying to do.  The Razorbacks are “known to be in the mix for many of the nation’s best” running backs, including:

Jovon Robinson
Brian Kimbrow
Sheldon Dawson
Barry Sanders Jr.
Nick Thompkins
Jonathan Williams

Report: Now Anderson Headed To Arkansas

The folks at HawgsSports.com — the Rivals site for Arkansas — are now reporting the following:

UA will have a basketball coach in the next 48 hours.  I now think it will be Mike Anderson.  This has been a two horse race with Buzz (Williams) and Mike and I now think there will be a press conference either Wednesday or Thursday presenting the new basketball coach, and I think it is Mike.

That from Otis Kirk of the HawgSports site.

Those comments also appeared on PowerMizzou.com — the Rivals site for Missouri — and included the following addition:

I can tell you I was told 45 minutes ago by someone I trust that Missouri is hammering out contract details with Mike Anderson and Jimmy Sexton.

Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou goes on to say that he wouldn’t post the comments from the Arkansas site if they had not played things close to the vest throughout the Razorbacks’ search.  Instead, they’ve been slow to run with rumors (kudos to them).  And according to PowerMizzou, HawgSports is “convinced Anderson is headed to Fayetteville.”

Anybody else getting sick of this Anderson/Sexton story?

When all is said and done, Anderson’s going to have some serious enemies at either Missouri or Arkansas… because someone’s getting strung along.

Breaking Down The Arkansas 2011 Class

Arkansas already has 23 commitments for the 2011 class.

The Razorbacks rank 20th in the nation in the Rivals.com team rankings. Of course, the total number of commitments and point totals affect rankings. They change daily before National Signing Day.

Otis Kirk of HawgSports.com has this breakdown of the 2011 class so far for Arkansas. Kirk also looks at what could happen between now and the first Wednesday in February.
