LSU’s Miles Talks New Tiger Garb

When it comes to the Nike Pro Combat uniforms LSU will wear tomorrow against Auburn, Les Miles doesn’t sound too enthused.  Enjoy a Miles-ism on this Friday morning:

“I can tell you that our uniform will represent LSU and look very much like a uniform an LSU football team will wear.  Some of the uniforms are a wonderfully artistic reflection that someone else had.  I think our guys will enjoy the uniform, and that it is the right uniform for an LSU team to wear.”

Glad to hear that this LSU uniform will look like a uniform an LSU team will wear.

MSU Will Wear Special Uniforms In Egg Bowl

Everyone’s getting in on the special uniform craze.  Nike’s Pro Combat collection got the ball rolling.  Then came Under Armour.  And now Adidas has started providing special unis to some of its schools, too.

Mississippi State announced yesterday that Adidas would supply it with special uniforms for this year’s Egg Bowl game with Ole Miss.  The Bulldogs will wear maroon from head to toe, but the numbers on the jerseys, the outline of the helmet logo and their shoes will all be gold.  ‘Cause it’s “The Battle for The Golden Egg,” you see?

MSU’s jerseys will also feature the words “Hail State” where players’ names usually appear.

You can get a preview of the design here.

Hard to make a call on those unis without seeing a real version of them.  But speaking of State’s uniforms, I will say it’s time to dump the matte-finish helmets.  It looks like MSU couldn’t afford real helmets and had to go with cheap, plastic lids.

Is This LSU’s New Nike Pro Combat Uni?

LSU is scheduled to wear a new Nike Pro Combat uniform against Auburn later this season.  Making the rounds on the internet is this photo of an LSU all-white-with-old-gold uni seen at a Nike store in Las Vegas.

If this is LSU’s 2011 Pro Combat uni, it looks a heckuva lot better than the red pajamas Georgia wore last Saturday.

SEC Headlines – 11/11/10 Part Two

1.  Despite all the talk, Cam Newton is set to start for Auburn on Saturday.

2.  A rogue booster could still prove to be trouble for AU.

3.  Auburn seniors will be looking for their first win against Georgia this weekend.

4.  Nick Saban hasn’t gotten through to this year’s Alabama team the way he did with last year’s.  (And he warned all summer that each team is different.)

5.  Bama will honor former Tide players who served in the military on Saturday… and they’re scheduled to be wearing their Nike Pro Combat unis, too.

6.  If Tennessee loses to Ole Miss on Saturday, it will be the first time in history that the Vols opened the SEC season at 0-6.

7.  The Vols’ secondary is being hit hard with injuries.

8.  Defensive end Jacques Smith pleaded guilty on a simple assault charge today… and then shook hands with Vol fans outside the courtroom.  (What a world.)

9.  The best thing going for Vanderbilt these day?  Punter Richard Kent.  And that’s pretty much all there is to report on Vandy today.
