Thought Of The Day – 1/31/13

Good Thursday to you.  Today’s thought/lyric of the day is a bit of a weird one.  Typically if you’re listening to a KISS song you can count on the lyrics involving sex, drinking, partying… or a mixture of the three.  Hey, there’s a reason teens in the ’70s — and then teens in the 80s, and then teens in the 90s — viewed these guys as hedonistic heroes.

But the 1974 KISS song “Goin’ Blind” was a bit of a departure.  It didn’t sound like a typical song from the band either musically or lyrically.  Twenty-one years later the band performed the song for the MTV “Unplugged” series and that’s the version that was spit out by the MrSEC iPod this morning.  That’s also the version seen in the video below.

It’s a far cry from some of the band’s early hits (like “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Detroit Rock City”).  And the May/December romance Gene Simmons wails about is truly a May/LATE-December romance.  As you’ll see and hear below.  Very odd.

“Little lady, can’t you see?  You’re so young and so much different than I.  I’m 93, you’re 16.  Can’t you see I’m goin’ blind?”
