SEC Headlines – 6/1/11 Part Four

1.  Here’s a lengthy chat with Mark Richt regarding oversigning.  Good stuff.

2.  Still more on oversigning can be found here.

3.  Houston Nutt wants the league to stick with 28 signees per class.  (We’d be okay with that, too… if all other loopholes are closed and the cut-off is 28 — period — per calendar year.)

4.  Kentucky’s Terrence Jones — who passed on a chance to enter the NBA — is bypassing a tryout for Team USA in order to stay in Lexington for summer school.  (Stick that in your pipe, Bobby Knight.)

Bost, Jones Win SEC Weekly Honors

The SEC has handed out its weekly basketball awards and this week’s winners will likely win again (and again) before the season ends.

Mississippi State point guard Dee Bost won SEC Player of the Week honors in his first full week back from an NCAA suspension.  Bost averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds and 8 assists per game in leading the Bulldogs to wins over Ole Miss and Auburn.  Just as Rick Stansbury had hoped, MSU is starting to heat up with Bost (and Renardo Sidney) out of the NCAA doghouse and onto the Dogs’ home court.

Kentucky’s Terrence Jones was named the league’s Freshman of the Week award.  Jones averaged 26 points and 7.5 rebounds against Auburn and LSU.
