“We’re happy that people think that highly of us. But we’re onto next week. That’s our only focus…
The only thing we talked about is this week and Florida Atlantic. We’re not talking about anything else or thinking about anything else. We’re going to keep the same approach. That’s what’s got us here so far. We have not looked ahead, we have not talked about anything else. We’re playing an opponent that is a solid opponent this week…
I think the mental aspect of college football is very important and I’m happy with where we’re at, but I’m going to say it again, we have not arrived. We’re going to take it one game at a time. We need to keep improving.”
Don’t tell Malzahn that we said this, but Auburn’s upcoming schedule isn’t too daunting. After Saturday’s date with FAU, Auburn will travel to Arkansas. The Razorbacks are currently on a five-game losing streak. Next comes a visit to improving Tennessee, but the Vols are nowhere near being ranked. Back-to-back SEC road games could be troublesome for the Tigers, however. After all, South Carolina won at Arkansas and then faltered at Tennessee the next week.
Auburn should be favored in all three of those contests which leaves only the Tigers’ two biggest rivals: Georgia and Alabama. Both games are at home.
It’s not that farfetched to imagine an undefeated Alabama and a once-beaten Auburn squaring off a Jordan-Hare in this year’s Iron Bowl. Just sayin’.
