Quarterback Nosovitch Chooses South Carolina

South Carolina received a commitment on Tuesday from quarterback Brendan Nosovitch from Central Catholic High School in Allentown, Pa.

“They offered me back in the spring when I first went there on a visit,” Nosovitch told ESPN Insider. “I love everything about South Carolina, the campus is great, I love their academics and its SEC football. Those are the main things. The pieces just came together.”

Nosovitch, who’s considered the nation’s 39th-best quarterback by, chose South Carolina over offers from Maryland, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Penn State and Northwestern.

Nosovitch is the first quarterback to commit to South Carolina for the class of 2012. He joins a class that recently picked up commitments from three wide receivers: Jody Fuller, Shaq Roland and Kwinton Smith. All three players have committed in the last week.

Nosovitch gives South Carolina 14 commitments for the class of 2012.

South Carolina Adds Another Receiver To 2012 Class

South Carolina has done a good job this week of addressing its need at wide receiver.

The Gamecocks have received a commitment from receiver Shaq Roland of Lexington (S.C.) High School. He announced the decision on his Facebook page on Saturday, writing “it’s finally done. I’ve committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Roland is the third receiver to commit to South Carolina this week, joining Kwinton Smith from Dillon, S.C., and Jody Fuller from Monroe, N.C. All three receivers are considered four-star prospects by

Roland, who gives South Carolina 13 commitments for the class of 2012, chose the Gamecocks over Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Clemson.

Receiver Kwinton Smith Headed To South Carolina

South Carolina has received a commitment from wide receiver Kwinton Smith from Dillon (S.C.) High School.

Smith gave his pledge to the Gamecocks on Wednesday during an unofficial visit to Columbia.

“It came down to my close relationship with the coaches at South Carolina,” Smith told “It’s also close to home for my family and parents. South Carolina is home to me.”

Smith’s list of offers included Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Tennessee and Notre Dame.

Smith is South Carolina’s 11th commitment for the 2012 class. He’s the first receiver to commit to South Carolina, which could also land receiver Jody Fuller when he announces his decision on Friday.
