Confirmed: Auburn Wide Receiver Jaylon Denson Done For The Year

jaylon densonAuburn junior receiver Jaylon Denson injured his leg Saturday, reportedly tearing the patellar tendon in his left leg.  Coach Gus Malzahn confirmed today that Denson’s season is over.

“That’s a pretty tough injury with that and that’s a big blow for our offense. He was our most consistent guy, so it’s going to have to be by-committee from here on out.”

Denson had three catches for 45 yards.  Injuries are nothing new to Auburn this year.  Five defensive starters have missed at least one game this season.

“Then to lose a guy like Jaylon Denson is a huge blow, but that creates opportunities for other people and the good thing is for the future is we’re playing a whole bunch of young guys and that’ll do nothing but help us for the future.”

Auburn is off this week before facing Ole Miss on October 5.

Auburn Signee Blackson Receives Good News

Auburn 2011 signee Angelo Blackson has been cleared to enroll in school, according to AuburnSports.com.

The defensive tackle from Red Lion Christian Academy in Bear, Del., isn’t Auburn’s highest-rated signee at the position. That would be Gabe Wright from Columbus, Ga. But Blackson is expected to challenge for playing time right away this fall.

“Blackson has the athleticism and the body to compete immediately for playing time on a rebuilt defensive front at Auburn,” Justin Hokanson of AuburnSports wrote on twitter.

Three of Auburn’s 2011 signees are still waiting to be cleared to enroll in school: wide receiver Jaylon Denson, running back Tre Mason and defensive back Anthony Swain.
