SEC Headlines – 4/23/12

1.  Want to start the week with a positive story?  Try this: Auburn fans are still helping Tuscaloosa recover from last year’s tornadoes.

2.  Several ex-LSU’ers may have to wait to hear their names called at this week’s NFL draft.

3.  Johnthan Banks (correct spelling) got a look at wideout during MSU’s spring game on Saturday.

4.  The losers of the Maroon-White Game — the white team — spent yesterday cleaning up the stadium.

5.  Texas A&M fans probably won’t see 5-star tailback Brandon Williams until 2013, but Kevin Sumlin says “he’s as advertised.”

6.  Kentucky has expressed interest in Xavier transfer Mark Lyons… along with Arizona and Kansas.

7.  Tennessee made progress in switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense this spring.

8.  Another win for James Franklin: Vanderbilt has approved the construction of a multipurpose indoor practice facility.

9.  This story is told from a Pac-12 slant, but it’s a great look at how ADs conduct their coaching searches.  Interesting read.

10.  Spring practice is a time for teams — starters, backups and walk-ons — to improve.  It’s not a time for fans… so can we scrap the idea of teams playing one another in spring games already?
