UF Transfer Story Won’t Be Landing In The SEC

Redshirt freshman receiver Ja’Juan Story is leaving Florida, but he won’t landing elsewhere in the Southeastern Conference.  The former four-star prospect has had limits placed on his transfer by Gator coach Will Muschamp.

Florida State, Miami and Florida’s 13 SEC rivals are off limits to the wideout.  One of Story’s ex-high school coaches said: “There’s no issue.  He just wasn’t happy (at Florida) and he wants to get a fresh start somewhere.  He leaves Florida in good standing and good academically.”

And he’s leaving the entire conference that way, too.  So anyone hoping a once highly-regarded receiver might just drop into their team’s lap is going to be disappointed.

New Gator WR Story Likes Katy Perry, Doodoo

There are times when I think it’s important for all of us to remember that we’re talking — much of the time — about 18-, 19,- and 20-year-old kids.  For all the joy and rage, camaraderie and hatred felt and shared over SEC sports, in the end we’re talking about teenagers.

For proof, we bring you this Q&A with new Florida receiver Ja’Juan Story.  The questions were simple — What number do you want to wear?  What’s your biggest hobby?  If you were a character from a Disney movie, who would you be?

But one section of the back-and-forth stood out and we’ll just give that part to you verbatim:

Q:  What’s your favorite pre-game ritual?

A:  Well, I take a doodoo.  Before every game I doodoo.

Q:  That’s your FAVORITE pre-game ritual?

A:  Well, that’s the only thing I do.  That’s one thing I have to do before every game, or I won’t feel energy, and I’ll just feel slow.  When I do I just feel light on my feet and everything, and I feel faster, so that’s what I do.

Q:  You know I’m going to write this in a story right?

A:  Well, I mean that’s what it is.  I doodoo and then listen to Katy Perry.

Heidi ho, as South Park’s Mr. Hankey would say.

Personally, I don’t know what’s funnier — the fact that this kid just told the whole world that he likes to “doodoo” before a game or that he follows said activity up with some Katy Perry.

Please remember this story the next time you’re trying to figure out why some fabulous athlete didn’t ink with your favorite school when clearly that would have been his best choice.  We’re talking about teenagers.

Report: Oregon Pursuing Florida Commit

Oregon is actively recruiting Florida commit Ja’Juan Story, according to

Story, a wide receiver from Nature Coast High School in Brooksville, Fla., has been committed to Florida since June. He recently took an unofficial visit to Florida State and has shown interest in Notre Dame.

Story has expressed interest in Oregon during conversations with Justin Hopkins, a writer for Oregon receivers coach Scott Frost will visit Story this week, according to the story.

Hopkins writes:

“Keep an eye on this situation as Oregon has indicated they may allow Story to visit despite his verbal commitment to Florida. It’s not clear whether he will withdraw his commitment to Florida or simply take some visits. The Gator staff has told Story they would prefer if he did not take any visits, which appears to be a sticking point.”
