Malzahn Wants Auburn To Get Its Edge Back

AUBURN MEDIA DAYSAfter praising his team for good grades in the classroom and good behavior off the field, new Auburn coach Gus Malzhan made it clear what he wants from his first Tiger football team:

“The #1 thing that our players have to do for us to be successful this year is to get our edge back.  That is the mental and physical toughness, the blue-collar, hard-nosed, hit-ya-in-the-mouth, Auburn-style football that’s made Auburn great.  Worry about your teammate, not worry about yourself.  And lose the entitlement issue.  That’s what we’ve been striving on.  And history shows that if Auburn has their edge they can compete for championships and win games.”

You wouldn’t know this is Malzahn’s first SEC Media Days.  He’s completely relaxed.  While he looks like a school teacher, his deep voice and Southern drawl give you the feeling he’s about to spit tobacco on someone.
