This fall, we’re going to have to be very clear whenever we mention the name James Franklin. We could be talking about Vanderbilt’s energetic and controversial new coach. Or we could be talking about Missouri’s dual-threat quarterback.
Today, we’re talking about the quarterback.
Missouri officials announced yesterday that Franklin will be out indefinitely due to a sprained right (throwing) shoulder, though it’s said the school expects him to return “sometime within the next month.” Whether he’ll play in MU’s April 14th spring game is obviously up in the air.
Last season as a sophomore, Franklin passed for 2,865 yards and 21 touchdowns while adding 981 rushing yards and 15 more scores on the ground.
He injured his shoulder during practice on Tuesday.
For those SEC’ers who’ve never seen Franklin — or his mobility — below is a quick clip of his ability. (Added bonus: Gus Johnson screaming.)
