Rivals Releases First Top 100 List For 2012

The first Rivals100 list for 2012 was released on Monday.

Rivals ranks wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham from Springfield, Mo., as the top player in the country. Green-Beckham, who was named the Junior of the Year last year, has been compared to recent SEC stars A.J. Green and Julio Jones.

“Green-Backham has the same skill set as both of these gridiron warriors but is a bit taller,” Rivals analyst Barry Every said. “I really think right now he is the safest bet for a surefire five-star player that will produce immediate results in college.”

Five prospects from the Rivals100 are committed to SEC schools. LSU is the only school with more than one commitment. Alabama, Auburn and Florida each have one player committed.

Alabama has the top-ranked player in the SEC – defensive back Eddie Williams at No. 20.

43. WR Avery Johnson (LSU)
49. OL Jessamen Dunker (Florida)
72. QB Zeke Pike (Auburn)
97. DE Torshiro Davis (LSU)

Rivals has more on what went in to its first ranking for the 2012 class. See the explanation here.
