College Buddy just sent this to me. It is a photograph of a plaque hanging in the museum portion of the Tigers’ new Auburn Arena basketball complex.

Attentive readers may note that, while the Plainsmen have recorded the correct final score from the 100th meeting of the two teams in 1996, they got a tiny little detail wrong regarding the winner.

Georgia Bulldogs at Auburn Tigers Game Day Open Comment Thread

Content provided by Dawg Sports.

About today’s showdown on the Plains, I have nothing more to say other than to point out that the Georgia Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers take part in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. All other considerations aside, this game matters monumentally because of the long and storied history of the hard-fought series.

Join in the conversation below as we cheer the Red and Black on either to victory or to a defeat which will be vacated later when the NCAA declares Cam Newton retroactively ineligible and erases all the Plainsmen’s 2010 wins from the books.

Since the Georgia Bulldogs‘ annual showdown with the Auburn Tigers is slated to kick off at 3:30 this afternoon, we will be dividing up the day with a trio of open comment threads. This is your initial comment thread, which will cover the early gridiron action. At 2:30, the comment thread specific to the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is scheduled to appear. Thereafter, at 7:00, a separate comment thread devoted to the evening college football outings is set to be published. While you will not be banned, warned, or subjected to having your comments deleted if you post in the wrong thread, your fellow members of the Dawg Sports community reserve the right to mock you.

Have at it in the comments below, observing, as always, the rules of decorum within reasonable boundaries.

Auburn on Whether Cam Newton Will Play: “No Comment”

All week long, the mantra has been: “He’s eligible.” Gene Chizik has said repeatedly that his Heisman Trophy frontrunner will play. Why are they now changing that answer and saying, “No comment”?

Stay tuned. . . .
