Oh, No He Didn’t! Ex-UF Coach Meyer Says His OSU QB Is More Talented Than Tebow

Want to tick off a Florida Gator?  Say something that in anyway can be viewed as a slight of St. Tim of Jacksonville.  Well, that’s just what ex-Gator and current Ohio State coach Urban Meyer did on a WBNS-FM 97.1 in Columbus yesterday.  He said his current Buckeye quarterback — Braxton Miller — has more God-given ability than Tim Tebow:

“Very similar guys.  They’re both competitive human beings.  They’re both very talented people.  Braxton has more talent.  Tim is probably more of a grinder.”

Which makes Braxton more of a hoagie.  (Sorry, third-grade humor.  Couldn’t be helped.)

So Miller has more talent than Tebow?  This we’d like to see.  When he heals the sick and walks across the mighty Olentangy — a tip of the hat to Keith Jackson — then those of us here at MrSEC.com will be impressed.  Not before.

UF’s Orr Busted For Weed

Every year it’s like clockwork.  The BCS Championship Game is played.  A week later, the arrests begin.  Ex-Alabama star Dre Kirkpatrick was the first to be popped for possession of marijuana.  Now it’s a Florida Gator.

Sophomore defensive tackle Leon Orr faces misdemeanor marijuana possession charge after less than 20 grams were found in his on-campus dorm room by UF police.  He’s also being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia thanks to a pipe and rolling papers that were also found in the room.

For those thinking that Will Muschamp would be able to clean up the Gators’ marijuana culture, that’s a no-go.  Orr is the eighth Florida player arrested under Muschamp and six of those arrests have been pot-related.

Smoking marijuana in college isn’t as rare as it used to be and from the 60′s on it hasn’t been that rare to begin with.  But if Florida were to strengthen its drug policy, it might lead one or two Gators to occasionally put down their pipes.

UF’s Rainey Has Title Ring Stolen

While Auburn’s players were receiving their national title rings yesterday, a Florida Gator was having his stolen.  The home of Chris Rainey and teammate Moses Jenkins was broken into yesterday morning and among the items reported stolen were Rainey’s 2008 BCS championship ring.

Considering Rainey’s past, the thief had better hope the speedy receiver doesn’t track down his cell phone number… or else it might be “time to die.”

Another Weed Issue For Florida

You can add another SEC player to the list of guys who stupidly failed drug tests at the NFL combine this past February.  No shock here, the failed test belonged to a Florida Gator.

By now you’re well aware of these two facts:

* UF has a very liberal five-strikes drug policy for its athletes

* A former member of the 2006 national championship Gators estimated that 75% of his teammates smoked pot

So the fact that former UF offensive lineman Maurice Hurt tested positive at the combine for marijuana is par for the course.  In fact, Hurt is the third Gator in as many years to fail a drug test for weed at the combine.  The others were Percy Harvin and Aaron Hernandez.

Hurt joins Georgia’s Justin Houston and Iowa’s Christian Ballard on this year’s list of dimwits.

If you know you’re going to be drug tested, how do you light up beforehand?
