The Year Of Living Dangerously: Injuries Mounting Across The SEC

year-of-living-dangerously-posterVinnie Sunseri at Alabama.  Evan Engram at Ole Miss.  Josh Holsey at Auburn.

Three more SEC players done for the year with season-ending surgeries.  When it comes to injuries, the SEC seems to be experiencing a record number of broken bones and busted knees.  It’s possible, of course, that everyone’s current focus on the dangers of football — concussion lawsuits, new NFL and college rules designed to protect players, news stories — has caused us to pay more attention to the number of injury bug bites this year.  It’s also possible that adding two new teams and two new injury lists to the SEC mix has influenced our views.  But when you look at the list below — of players out for the year or currently out for extended periods — and it’s hard not to call 2013 the year of living dangerously in the Southeastern Conference.

(For the record, we are guaranteed to be missing a name or two on this list.  Some coaches simply don’t provide good injury information.  If think you know of someone on your favorite team who is done for the season or will be out for an extended period of three or more weeks, feel free to make a note of it in our comment area.)
