Thought Of The Day – 4/2/13

Good Tuesday to everyone out there.  I’m pretty sure Elvis Presley is making his first appearance in our thought/lyric of the day series this morning.  And good luck trying to figure out which is better… Elvis’ song or the homemade fan video that accompanies it.  (Sarcasm.)

If you’re looking for Elvis’ best album from his post-movies, “comeback” years, look no further than “The Memphis Record,” a sizable collection of material from 1969.  The album’s opening track is the opening track from the iPod today — “Stranger In My Own Hometown.”

“I came home with good intentions about five or six years ago.  But my hometown won’t accept me… just don’t feel welcome here no more.”

And if you’re looking for a bluesier version of that one, check out this rehearsal cut.  It’s just plumb greasy.
