Daniel Latest Standout To Choose Ole Miss

Defensive end Elijah Daniel from Avon (Ind.) committed to Ole Miss on Sunday.

The nation’s No. 4 defensive end according to ESPN chose the Rebels just three days after Laquon Treadwell, the nation’s top-ranked wide receiver, committed to Ole Miss.

“I wanted to make the class stronger,” Daniel told 247Sports. “I had a connection with the head coach and the rest of the coaching staff. Just everything.”

Daniel cited the SEC as another reason for choosing Ole Miss. Why didn’t Daniel choose a more high profile SEC school, such as Florida? Grades, according to Zach Abolverdi of the Gainesville Sun.

Ole Miss probably isn’t done landing highly-touted prospects in the 2013 class.

The nation’s No. 1 prospect, Loganville, Ga., defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, is strongly considering the Rebels. Nkemdiche said Sunday he’s considering three schools evenly, but he’s still expected to sign with Ole Miss.

Safety Tony Conner from Batesville, Miss., is also considered a lean to the Rebels.

Ole Miss has 23 commitments for the class of 2013.

Will Treadwell Lead Strong Finish For Ole Miss?

Wide receiver Laquon Treadwell from Crete, Ill., is set to announce his college decision on Thursday.

Ole Miss is the expected destination for Treadwell, who’s also considering Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. His visit to Ole Miss in December made a lasting impression and might have sealed the deal for the Rebels.

“My visit went very, very good,” Treadwell told RebelGrove.com. “My mom loved it the most, so that’s the best thing. I feel like it’s home when it’s home when I’m around the coaches and players and that’s the most important thing. I feel like I fit right in with everything Ole Miss is trying to do with the program and I love the offense they’re running.”

Ole Miss is also close to landing several defensive standouts in the class of 2013. The most notable is Loganville, Ga., defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, the nation’s top overall prospect. The Rebels are also in the mix for standouts like defensive back Tony Conner and defensive end Elijah Daniel.

In fact, Gerry Hamilton of 247Sports believes Ole Miss will land all four of the above players. What a finish that would be for Ole Miss, which currently has the nation’s No. 21 class by 247Sports.

Could Ole Miss finish with a top-10 class nationally on signing day? Discuss on the new MrSEC Google+ Community.
