Arkansas Adds To 2012 And 2013 Classes

Arkansas received commitments during the weekend from wide receiver Eric Hawkins and defensive end Brandon Lewis.

Hawkins is also a track standout at Longview (Texas) High School. He’s the third receiver to commit to Arkansas’s class of 2012.

Lewis is the second prospect from Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway High School to commit to Arkansas. Offensive lineman Cordale Boyd committed to the Razorbacks in April.

Arkansas has 10 commitments for the class of 2012.

Arkansas was also able to land its first commitment for the 2013 class when running back Jamel James from Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, Texas, gave his pledge to the Razorbacks.

Arkansas Lands Memphis Lineman

Arkansas has received a commitment from offensive lineman Cordale Boyd from Memphis (Tenn.) Ridgeway High School.

“I was up there about a month ago and just loved it,” Boyd told ESPN.com. “I loved the academics. They showed so much interest in academics. Some colleges don’t even bother talking to you about them. I loved the weight room because I love lifting weights. It will motivate me to do well there.”

Boyd is the fifth prospect to commit to Arkansas for the class of 2012 and the second offensive lineman to do so.

Boyd’s commitment is another example of Arkansas’ approach to recruit Memphis, as outlined by Otis Kirk on HawgSports.com last week.
