Alabama Loses Coach To NFL; LSU Hires Former Pro Coach

mrsec-breaking-newsAlabama announced the departure Friday of offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who’s leaving to join Chip Kelly’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“Coach Stoutland did an excellent job with our offensive line along with each and every responsibility he had while he was here at the University of Alabama,” coach Nick Saban said in a statement. “We appreciate all that he did in terms of his time and his dedication in contributing to the success we’ve had over the last two years. He’s an outstanding coach and he will do a great job with the Eagles. We wish him and his family the best.”

While Alabama lost a coach to the NFL, LSU hired one who’s spent the last 11 years coaching at the professional level. The Tigers have hired former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron for the same position at LSU, according to Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com.

Cameron, who was fired by Baltimore during the regular season, last coached at the college level as Indiana’s head coach from 1997-2001. Cameron then served as the San Diego Chargers’ offensive coordinator from 2002-06 and the Miami Dolphins’ head coach in 2007, finishing his lone season at the helm with a 1-15 record.
