Running back Derrick Henry from Yulee (Fla.) High School is considering announcing his college decision on Sept. 28.
Yulee High School will play Glades Day School on ESPN that day.
“That’s been the idea, to commit on ESPN that day, because our game is scheduled that day and ESPN has a lot of things scheduled as a network, and I don’t know what other day I could do it,” Henry told 247Sports. ”That’s the perfect day – maybe that morning.”
The decision will likely come down to Alabama and Tennessee.
“I think those will probably be the only two (official visits),” said Henry, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 2 athlete by 247Sports.
Alabama continues to lead for Henry, who originally committed to Georgia before reopening his recruitment in June.
“Alabama has been a top program in the nation for the last three of four years,” Henry said. “Tennessee has always been a powerhouse but fell over the last few years. They’re trying to get that program where it needs to be with Coach (Derek) Dooley.
“To contrast, Alabama has been superior at the running back position the last few years. Tennessee had (Montario) Hardesty. Alabama had Mark (Ingram) and Trent (Richardson) win the Heisman and the Doak Walker (awards). That”s a big look for me with Alabama.”
