Slive To Conduct Coin Toss At Columbia And At College Station Saturday

Well, the guy just doesn’t miss a trick.

Saturday, when Missouri hosts Georgia and Texas A&M hosts Florida in the two new schools’ SEC openers, league commissioner Mike Slive will be one hand.  For both games.  To conduct the coin toss.  At both games.

According to SEC spokesperson Chuck Dunlap, Slive will be on hand for the 3:30pm ET kickoff in College Station and then then 7:45pm ET kickoff in Columbia.

A&M and Mizzou fans, sleep well.  Your new commish loves you.

UPDATE – Slive spoke about the SEC’s two new members on Wednesday with Tony Barnhart.

SEC Error Omits Garcia From All-SEC Ballot

Just two years removed from Steve Spurrier not listing Florida’s Tim Tebow as his All-SEC quarterback, we have another tempest in teapot regarding a league QB and an all-league team.

The initial All-SEC electronic ballot that the SEC sent to media members over the past couple of weeks did not include the name of Stephen Garcia.  Spurrier’s own quarterback — therefore — isn’t likely to make the All-SEC team which will be announced at week’s end.  (Unless several voters waited to send in corrected ballots.)

Chuck Dunlap of the SEC office tried to put the kibosh on any conspiracy theories via Twitter yesterday:

“Let’s put this non-story to bed.  A technical issue on our end originally left Stephen Garcia off the preseason All-SEC ballot sent to media.”

Upon learning of the ballot issue, some online sites suggested that the SEC did not want to honor a player with Garcia’s track record for minor off-the-field bumbles.

Not so.
