Commodores Land Orlando Wide Receiver

Vanderbilt has received a commitment from an Orlando, Fla., prospect for the second time in as many days.

Wide receiver Dominic Walker from Evans High School committed to the Commodores on Wednesday, one day after Vanderbilt received a pledge from Orlando defensive end Landon Stokes.

“What I liked about Vanderbilt is just the atmosphere up there and the coaching staff as well,” Walker told 247Sports. “When I went up there in April, I felt needed. They send me mail in big old stacks. I get more mail than my mom. I’m going to make plays and try to help them win an SEC championship.”

Walker chose Vanderbilt over an impressive list of offers. Texas A&M and Florida State were finalists for Walker, who also considered Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami and Nebraska.

Vanderbilt has commitments from four receivers in the 2013 class: Walker, Carlos Burse from Alpharetta, Ga. and Gerald Perry and Latevius Rayford from Memphis.

Vanderbilt has 15 commitments for the class of 2013, which gives the Commodores the No. 15 ranked class in the country, according to 247Sports. Ten of the top 20 ranked teams in the country are from the SEC.

Vanderbilt Lands Highly-Touted Receiver

Vanderbilt has once again found recruiting success in the state of Georgia.

The Commodores received a commitment Thursday from Alpharetta High School wide receiver Carlos Burse, who’s considered to be the 27th-best prospect in the state of Georgia and No. 277 prospect overall by ESPN RecruitingNation.

Burse chose Vanderbilt over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech.

“It was the academics mainly, and I wanted to build my own little legacy over there,” Burse told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Vanderbilt showed me the most interest.”

Burse is the 10th prospect to commit to Vanderbilt for 2013 and the fourth prospect from Georgia. Quarterback Johnathon McCrary from Ellenwood, Ga., was the first prospect to commit to Vanderbilt for 2013.
