Florida defensive line coach Bryant Young unexpectedly resigned today. Young informed the Gators during a staff meeting this afternoon, citing a desire to spend more time with his family.
“I have come to the realization that it is time to invest more in my family during this fleeting season in life. I have truly loved my time being a Gator, enjoyed a great working relationship with coach Muschamp and will also miss the dedicated staff at this University.”
Young was part of Muschamp’s original staff at Florida. He had coached previously at San Jose State and Notre Dame, his alma mater, following a 14-year career NFL career with San Francisco 49ers.
This is the latest in a series of off-season moves involving Florida defensive coaches. Dan Quinn resigned as defensive coordinator to go to the Seattle Seahawks, linebacker coach D.J. Durkin was promoted to coordinator, and Brad Lawing was hired away from South Carolina to replace Quinn and work with Young.
