SEC Headlines – 8/16/11 Part 2

Just a heads-up that you can catch us on the radio in Louisville (KY), Florence (AL), Columbia (SC), Chattanooga (TN), Nashville (TN), Bowling Green (KY), Huntsville (AL) and Lexington (KY) today and this evening.

1.  Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks (yes, that’s the correct spelling) could play some offense this fall.

2.  Dan Mullen was angry yesterday about his offense’s “sloppy, lazy play.”

3.  Ex-Clemson transfer Brandon Maye isn’t having the expected impact in State’s linebacker corps.

4.  Meanwhile, juco transfer Uriah Grant is making a quick impact on Ole Miss’ defensive line.

5.  UM freshman O-lineman Aaron Morris’s physical play has earned him first-team status for the moment.

6.  Houston Nutt believes the Rebels had their “best work day” yesterday.

7.  Larry Smith once again holds the edge in Vanderbilt’s quarterback derby.

8.  Wesley Tate has moved from running back to wide receiver.

9.  Commodore hoopster John Jenkins continues to contribute in the World University Games… despite the death of his grandfather.

10.  Tennessee receivers Justin Hunter and Da’Rick Rogers see plenty of room for improvement

11.  UT defensive lineman Ben Martin is “Father Time.”

12.  The Vols will count on some new faces to help in the return game this year.

SEC Headlines – 6/15/11 Part One

1.  The tornadoes in Alabama have brought some perspective to Auburn and Bama fans.

2.  Ex-Clemson linebacker Brandon Maye is just what the folks at Mississippi State needed.

3.  LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson will spend tomorrow going through the “carwash” at ESPN.

4. says Auburn isn’t likely to win back-to-back Heismans… but South Carolina, Alabama and Arkansas might grab this year’s.

5.  While most folks focus on the quarterback, this writer says the left tackle spot will be just as important in the SEC this fall.
