Thomas Johnson Picks Texas A&M

The third best receiver in the nation — according to ESPNU rankings — Thomas Johnson of Dallas has made his decision.  Standing behind a row of hats — Oregon, Cal and TCU — Johnson reached behind the podium and pulled out a Texas A&M hat.

The four-star prospect is a great grab for Kevin Sumlin’s pass-happy system.  He’s an better get because he was once committed to Texas.  ”So long to the Orange and White” indeed.

Johnson will fill the vacancy left by Bralon Addison’s signing day decision to sign with Oregon.

The Signing Cap Blues: Bralon Addison Dumps Texas A&M For Oregon

One of the nation’s top receiver prospects — Bralon Addison — has backed out on his commitment to Texas A&M and chosen Oregon instead.  With the new soft 25-man signing cap in the SEC, that kind of loss hurts more than it would have in years past.  No longer can a school send out 30 Letters of Intent in the hopes of getting 25-28 signed.  So when A&M or another school loses a player on signing day, it hurts just a little bit more.

You can bet Kevin Sumlin is working the phones to find a fallback right… this… minute.
