SEC Commitment Comparison – 1/31/12

National Signing Day is just hours away and that means it’s time for one last check of the current SEC commitment lists.  The new Big Board reflects movement at six different league schools since yesterday.  How much more shuffling can we expect in the next 24 hours?  You’ll have to stay with us right here at MrSEC.com all day tomorrow to find out.

We’ll be bringing you updated signing lists from all 14 league schools — including Missouri and Texas A&M all day — so you can keep up with your own school as well as your rivals.  We’ll also provide running blog updates as the last big name players make their announcements.  Will there be a Cyrus Kouandjio surprise this year?  Will use a mascot for a prop as Isaiah Crowell did a year ago?  We’ll have ya covered all day starting bright and early tomorrow morning.

All that said, here’s our final look at the SEC’s commitment lists according to quantity, quality, and high-end stars… followed by our pre-signing day rankings.  (As always, we’re using the star-rankings provided by Rivals.com.)

First, a look at the quantity of each school’s class:

SEC Commitment Comparison – 1/30/12

Signing day is just two days away and there was serious shuffling of the commitment Big Board over the weekend.  Now, for the record, the numbers below reflect the latest commitment lists according to Rivals.com as of 2pm ET this afternoon.  Therefore, there are probably some shuffles from this morning that are not reflected in today’s comparison.

That said, here’s a good idea of where each SEC program stands today:

SEC Commitment Comparison – 1/27/11

There’s been some recent movement on our MrSEC recruiting Big Board and we wanted to get you that information first thing this morning.  While most recruiting services judge a class based upon its high-end commitments, we look at the entire class.  After all, who’s to say if a 15-man class with five 5-star players is really better than a 28-man class with 28 three-star players?

Below you’ll find our latest tabulations.  As always, we assign one point for every star rating handed out by the people at Rivals.com.  We also give 0-star players a point.  If you look at your school’s list and see a commitment missing, it’s not a conspiracy on our part.  We simply want to use one source of information on commits and that source is Rivals.  So if your school has added someone in the last 24 hours, that player may not be represented here.

First, a look at the total amount of talent committed to each SEC school this morning:

SEC Commitment Comparison – 1/24/11

There’s been some movement on the MrSEC.com Big Board over the weekend.  Schools have picked up commitments, lost commitments and seen some of the grades for their previous commitments change.  Here’s a look at the movement across the conference since Saturday:

SEC Commitment Comparison – 1/12/11

Three weeks from today is national signing day.  No surprise here, but our commitment Big Board is changing quite a bit each day.  The closer we get to signing day, the more commitments — and flip-flops — that will come to light.

Below you’ll find our latest chart on the SEC’s commitments to date.  It’s your best way to compare one SEC school against the others.

We use Rivals’ star rankings and assign a point value of 1 for each star they award to a prospect.  Because we’re softies, we also give 0-star prospects a 1-point grade.

That said, here’s the latest…

SEC Commitment Comparison – 11/26/10

Ten Wednesdays.  That’s how close we are to National Signing Day 2011.  Personally, I can’t believe another year has zipped by so quickly.  If this were “Logan’s Run” I’d have been called to Carrousel 10 times already.  (Nerds out there will know that I’ve spelled Carrousel correctly.)

As we near college football’s silly season — the contact period that runs for much of December and January — we thought it would be a good time to check in on our recruiting Big Board.  Below you’ll find how your favorite program currently stacks up against its chief rivals in terms of verbal commitments.

As always, we’ve taken the star ratings provided by Rivals.com and converted them into a 1-point-per-star system… but zero-star players are also given a point in our calculations.  ‘Cause we’re nice guys.
