A Week-By-Week Guide To SEC Football In November 2013

tv-remotesEarlier this month we took a glance at the SEC’s best and worst non-conference schedulers.  You can find that article on cupcakes right here.  But today we want to look at the SEC’s football schedule for 2013 in depth.  As in week-by-week and month-by-month.

In other words, which Saturdays look great for TV viewing and which, well, leave us wanting a bit more.  In this entry, we’ll examine November.

Please keep in mind that these rankings are based on overall interest level for an outside observer.  They do not reflect how close we believe a particular game might be.  Also, we list games by the week, so a Thursday game will be assigned to the following Saturday’s weekend.

A Week-By-Week Guide To SEC Football In August & September 2013

tv-remotesEarlier this month we took a glance at the SEC’s best and worst non-conference schedulers.  You can find that article on cupcakes right here.  But today we want to look at the SEC’s football schedule for 2013 in depth.  As in week-by-week and month-by-month.

In other words, which Saturdays look great for TV viewing and which, well, leave us wanting a bit more.  We’ll start in August/September.

Please keep in mind that these rankings are based on overall interest level for an outside observer.  They do not reflect how close a particular game might be.  Also, we list games by the week, so a Thursday game will be assigned to the following Saturday’s weekend.

August 31st

Great Games:  Alabama vs. Virginia Tech, Georgia at Clemson, LSU vs TCU

Intriguing Games:  Kentucky vs W. Kentucky (Bobby Petrino versus a school that passed him over), Mississippi State vs Oklahoma State (MSU finally steps up in weight class), Washington State at Auburn (lots of passing versus lots of hurry-up), Ole Miss at Vanderbilt (two surprise teams a year ago face off), South Carolina vs North Carolina (nice neighborly battle in Charlotte)

Yawners:  La.-Lafayette at Arkansas, Toledo at Florida, Murray State at Missouri, Austin Peay at Tennessee, Rice at Texas A&M

September 7th

Great Games:  Florida at Miami (FL), South Carolina at Georgia

Intriguing Games:  Arkansas State at Auburn (Gus Malzahn versus the team he coached last year), Western Kentucky at Tennessee (Petrino versus another school that passed him over), Toledo at Missouri (If the Rockets — who went 9-4 last year — upset Mizzou it could be curtains for Gary Pinkel)

Yawners:  Samford at Arkansas, Miami (OH) at Kentucky, UAB at LSU, Southeast Missouri State at Ole Miss, Alcorn State at Mississippi State, Sam Houston State at Texas A&M, Austin Peay at Vanderbilt

September 14th

Great Games:  Alabama at Texas A&M

Intriguing Games:  Mississippi State at Auburn, Louisville at Kentucky (can Mark Stoops pull the upset?), Ole Miss at Texas (The Rebels got thumped by the Longhorns last year), Vanderbilt at South Carolina, Tennessee at Oregon (If the Vols had a better roster this might be a great one)

Yawners:  Southern Miss at Arkansas,  Kent State at LSU
