Pitino, King Get Hall Of Fame Invitations

basketball-hall-of-fame-019jpg-f98854aae898a2b1A pair of ex-SEC’ers have been elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, it was announced today.  Former Kentucky coach Rick Pitino — who’ll be leading Louisville in tonight’s NCAA Tournament final — and former Tennessee and NBA star Bernard King are part of the his year’s seven-person class.

Also joining Pitino and King for induction day in September will be Sylvia Hatchell, Guy Lewis, Gary Payton, Dawn Staley, and Jerry Tarkanian.

The basketball hall is located in Springfield, Massachusetts.

UPDATE – We cover the SEC’s two revenue sports at this site, but it was still an oversight not to mention that Staley is the current women’s head coach at South Carolina.  Our apologies.  And our congratulations to Staley, King, and Pitino.
