Police: UT’s Johnson Tried To Start A Fight Before Arrest

Tennessee linebacker Austin Johnson — arrested early Sunday morning for disorderly conduct and public intoxication – was trying to start a fight and was seen hitting parked cars according to police.

The Knoxville Police Department’s report states that the senior starter “shoved a white male and attempted to fight the male” outside a bar just off the UT campus.

He also matched the description of a “male who was hitting vehicles int eh parking lot” and was identified as a “danger to himself and others.”

Derek Dooley has not commented on Johnson’s arrest yet.

UT Linebacker Johnson Arrested

It’s been a quiet offseason in Knoxville.  No bar fights, no gas station robberies.  In this day and age, that’s kind of surprising.

But over the weekend, senior Tennessee linebacker Austin Johnson was arrested and charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct/threatening behavior.  So much for a quiet offseason.

Tennessee officials say they are investigating “for additional information.”

Johnson is a starter for the Vols… a team that has little depth along the defensive front.  But for this kind of charge, it’s hard to imagine him paying too heavy a price punishment-wise.
