Auburn Lands Lawson; Lawson Sounds Like A Winner

gfx - they said itHighly-recruited defensive end Carl Lawson has confirmed that he’ll ink with the Auburn Tigers.  He also came across as a very sharp, very well-grounded young man when asked about his first-year expectations:

“I just want to work hard and I just want to be a part of the team.  I would love to have a whole bunch of sacks and stuff, but I have yet to step on a college field and I have yet to prove my ability.”

Lawson also said that he signed with Auburn, not the coaching staff.  When Gene Chizik and crew left, it made his decision tougher, but again AU was his choice.

On a day filled with prima donnas, it’s good to see an intelligent kid who says “team” comes first.

UVA Guard Transferring To Auburn

Earlier this month, two Auburn Tigers decided to transfer from the Plains.  Today, a new player — and a good one at that — is planning to fill one of the open slots left in Tony Barbee’s program.

Former Virginia guard KT Harrell has transferred to Auburn, where he will have to sit out one season before joining the AU team for the 2013-14 season.

Harrell is an Alabama native and was actually a Top 30 player in America (four stars) according to Rivals.com when he came out of high school.  He played two seasons with Virginia and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

According to Harrell’s father, Auburn’s style of play was a big factor in his son’s decision to transfer to the school.  “The style of play that Tony Barbee wants is exactly what we want, that dribble-drive offense, and it’s going to work out great for everyone.”

Harrell started 15 games for the Cavaliers during the 2010-11 season and played in all 31 contests averaging eight points and two rebounds per game.  He played in just 11 games this past season.

Rasputin Makes His SEC Championship Game Prediction. What’s Yours?

Arkansas
Content provided by Razorback Expats.

predictions_crystal_ball_2

In anticipation of tomorrow’s SEC championship battle between South Carolina and Auburn, we asked Rasputin, our staff soothsayer and a seemingly ageless Russian immigrant, to offer his prediction for the game. Rasputin – who has been banned from numerous golf courses throughout the Southeast for drunkenly harassing the ‘Ol Ball Coach - has been a rabid Razorback football fan since the program’s debut in 1894.

His forecast is after the jump:

“A New Year’s trip to New Orleans – oh this I long to take,
In the land of voodoo and spirits, much merriment would I make!

But something must first happen in busy Atlanta town,
Cam and the Auburn Tigers must take the SEC crown!

Their opponent has a wily coach – and resourceful he doth be,
and Chizik’s lack of sideburns creates much anxiety in me!

Points will be aplenty, and our nerves will remain quite tight,

But we and the Tiger fans will be happy come early Saturday night.

The mighty warriors of Auburn – 41,
the spirited warriors of South Carolina – 38.”
