LSU’s Miles Does His Thing When Discussing Columbus Day

Yeah, yeah, we know, LSU fans.  Your coach was simply saluting a people who have long worked hard to build our nation.  And in delivering his thoughts on Columbus Day yesterday, he even managed to offer inspiration to future generations of explorers.

OK.

Tiger fans out of the room?  Good.

Now the rest of us can have a laugh at Les Miles’ latest bizarro ramble:

Les Miles – "Happy Columbus Day"

“Good afternoon.  Just want to remind everybody that it is Columbus Day.  That all those of you that know Italians, that like Italians or the people that might venture onto a ship and travel to explore and find new lands, uh, this is your day.  So, um, it’s not St. Patty’s Day.  That’s a different day entirely.”

The guy can coach football, but he’d make even more money just doing off-the-cuff speaking engagements in Vegas or Atlantic City.  Wouldn’t you pay $20 to listen to Miles talk for an hour or two?  It’d be hysterical.

Bama Dress Or Gator Yard?

If you need further proof of the passion of SEC football fans, we offer not one but two examples this afternoon.

Our first entrant is Miss Alabama 2013 – the appropriately named Chandler Champion – who also happens to be a University of Alabama student.

Miss Champion is getting ready for the Miss America competition later this month and showed off a dress she’ll wear on the Atlantic City boardwalk.

AL.com described the dress this way: The Ann Northington-designed outfit is a is a black jumpsuit with a fitted bodice, complete with a houndstooth float that spells out “Roll Tide” on the front and has the Alabama National Championship emblem on the back.

“I really like to be trendy,” said Champion, ” but I do like to march to the beat of my own drum.”

Can anyone top that?  Well. Maybe.

Meet our second entrant, Jason Ioppolo.  Jason, according to his Twitter bio, lives in Ohio but we’re guessing his neighbors have no illusions about which team he’s rooting for.  Check out this picture of his backyard – complete with yard markers, Florida Gator and SEC logos. Which one do you prefer – the Gator Yard or the Bama Dress?
