Just wanted to bring you some random notes and bulletpoints from around the conference.

First, Doug Segrest of The Birmingham News spoke with CBS analyst Gary Danielson about the competitive state of the SEC.  In Danielson’s view, the arms race that’s building up the conference might wind up hurting the league down the road… if every team is saddled with three losses by year’s end. 

If there’s a conference that should be screaming for a playoff, it’s the one we follow so closely.  Otherwise, SEC teams might just cannibalize themselves.



Next up, The Birmingham News provides you with five things to watch this weekend around the conference:

1)  Will Alabama or Florida get caught looking ahead to their SEC Championship Game next week?

2)  Florida versus Florida State

3)  Alabama versus Auburn

4)  Unrest in Baton Rouge

5)  Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State (because it could have an impact on who the SEC champion meets in the BCS title game)



And finally, Tony Barnhart of the AJC has four questions he wants answered heading into Saturday:

1)  Will the Georgia defense have enough discipline to play “assignment football” against Georgia Tech?

2)  Why isn’t Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong being mentioned for some of the open head coaching jobs?  (Couldn’t agree more.)

3)  Is Les Miles going to be feeling some heat after this season?  Just one year removed from a national crown?

4)  Does Auburn have any shot in Saturday’s game against Alabama?
