The new polls are in and their Top 10s are identical… and in my view correct.
Both the AP media poll and the USA Today coaches poll see things this way:
1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Florida
4. Texas
5. Oklahoma
6. Southern Cal
7. Utah
8. Penn State
9. Boise State
10. Ohio State
But the problem comes in the BCS standings where Florida is actually behind Texas in this week’s standings. The Gators’ computer rankings will be hurt further by a game with The Citadel, but a win over Alabama in the SEC Championship Game would probably boost UF to #2 or perhaps even #1 (depending on what happens with Texas Tech down the stretch).
But for now, there’s no way I’d have any of the other one-loss teams ahead of Florida. The Gators have whipped their last six opponents 299-63.
As for the other SEC schools, here’s how they shake out in this week’s BCS standings:
1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
11. Georgia
18. LSU
And that’s it, folks. The SEC only has four teams among the nation’s Top 25.
