Wanted to give you some Sunday reaction to the news that Sylvester Croom has resigned in Starkville.

Here it is:

The day after MSU’s blowout loss to Ole Miss, Croom and athletic director Greg Byrne discussed “a lot of different ideas” on how to change the coaching staff.  During the conversation, Croom decided it would be best to offer his resignation, according to Byrne.

Here’s a timeline of Croom’s stay in Starkville.

Rick Cleveland of The Jackson Clarion-Ledger writes that Croom’s departure is a sad day for people involved with the program.

The national reaction hasn’t been very positive.

MSU has hired Neinas Sports Services to help them with their coaching search.

Brian Kelly, Cincinnait
Gary Patterson, TCU
Brent Venables, Oklahoma (defensive coordinator)
Gary Crowton, LSU (offensive coordinator)
