Some quick news and notes regarding the Vols from the past couple of days:
1) Tennessee has announced their 2010 football schedule and it’s highlighted by a September home game with the Oregon Ducks.
Speaking of highlights… with Tennessee in their bright orange, if the Ducks where their lightning yellow unis, this game will look like a battle of 6-foot tall highlighter pens.
2) Senior fullback David Holbert, who suffered an ugly, ugly knee injury during a Spring scrimmage, will be out for the year following a second surgery on his leg.
No word on whether Holbert will petition the NCAA for a sixth year of eligibility.
3) The Tennessean’s Bryan Mullen reports that Phillip Fulmer, following last season’s Outback Bowl, wasn’t sure that his lead tailback, Arian Foster, would be back in Knoxville for his senior season.
“When he left Tampa, I really didn’t think he would be coming back. His fondness for school has not always been where it should be. And he had a chance to be a second-round pick.
“… We’re glad he’s back. He’s a complete running back.“
