SOURCES: KIFFIN HAS BEEN OFFERED BY TENNESSEE

Permalink Tags:

Sources close to the coaching search at Tennessee are now saying that UT has extended an offer to Lane Kiffin to replace Phillip Fulmer.

This means that, apparently, there will be no last ditch effort to land Butch Davis on Sunday.

Names mentioned in connection with Kiffin are Ed Orgeron (as Jimmy Hyams reported earlier) and Monte Kiffin, Lane’s father.  The elder Kiffin makes about $2 million per year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  He is also 68 years old.

Tennessee’s Mike Hamilton has told Hyams that the process is still on-going and that no formal offer has been made.  We’ll see.

We’ll have more on this as it breaks, plus a video update later today.

Congratulations to Mike Hamilton for uniting the TN fanbase. The Fulmer supporters detest Hamilton for axing their guy and the ones supporting a change are going to be upset with him for hiring the least favorite candidate to replace Fulmer. They are unified…. against Mike Hamilton.
