The head of a real estate company that’s working to create an entertainment district in Birmingham believes the SEC, whose home offices are in the Alabama city, could be the focus of its own tourist attraction.
“We feel the SEC would be a huge catalyst to moving this forward,” said John Elkington whose company helped re-vamp Beale Street in Memphis.
“You always see a picture of BB King on Beale Street. That kind of became the icon. I see an SEC store like this as part of the Birmingham signature.”
The store, in theory, would also include a restaurant, catering services and an interactive history of the conference.
