Chalk up another plus for Gene Chizik at Auburn. The man no one wanted is doing more good deeds than a boy scout… or Tim Tebow.
Chizik has convinced former Auburn star Tracy Rocker is leaving his job with Ole Miss and heading home to his alma mater.
Rocker was the Rebels’ defensive line coach last year and had been with Houston Nutt in Arkansas as well.
As we suggested on this site back on December 30th, a departure by Rocker might open the door for former Tennessee defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell at Ole Miss.
Losing Rocker is a blow to the Rebels, but if Caldwell is landed, it could be mitigated. Caldwell has been one of Tennessee’s top recruiters in recent years.
The departure of Rocker will of course have some impact on the NFL decision of defensive end Greg Hardy. Whether it’s a positive or negative impact is anybody’s guess.
