MSU FOOTBALL NOTES – 8/4/08

Permalink Tags:

FROM SATURDAY:

Mississippi State’s new starting center has gone through a lot in the last year.  JC Brignone gotten married, seen his Katrina-destroyed family home rebuilt, but also lost his father.  “The kid’s probably been through about as much as any major college football player in the country,” said his position coach, JB Grimes.

FROM SUNDAY:

Kyle Veazey of The Jackson Clarion-Ledger profiles MSU offensive coordinator Woody McCorvey right here.

Sylvester Croom has decided to prohibit his freshmen from speaking with the media until afer the second scrimmage of the fall.  That’s just one of the blurbs covered in this notebook column.

Running back Anthony Dixon says he isn’t going to be slacking in practice just because he’s the Bulldogs’ #1 back.  He’ll be slacking for other reasons.  (Kidding.)

FROM TODAY:

Croom wasn’t thrilled with his quarterback’s performance at yesterday’s practice.  “Today wasn’t a very good day for Wesley (Carroll).  I think it was one of his roughest days of practice.”

Come to think of it, Croom wasn’t very happy about anything yesterday.  “That conditioning didn’t show up today.  The heat won today, hands down.

“I didn’t see anything that was impressive today at all.  I didn’t think today was a very good start.”
